Panic Attacks and Other Scary Things
Panic attacks are extremely frightening. Panic sufferers often believe they are having a heart attack and they dash to their physician or end up in an emergency room. Which is exactly what they should do. An accurate diagnosis is the first step in relieving panic attacks. A diagnosis is vital, because panic attacks mimic a number of potentially serious medical conditions. The next step is treatment. No one should have to endure repeated episodes of distressing panic. Furthermore, early treatment may prevent the condition from becoming chronic. Not all panic attacks are created equal. The symptoms are unique to the individual sufferer. Top 6 Ways To Control Panic Attack Symptoms

Author:
Mark Tern

A panic attack is accompanied usually by a feeling of terror and the fear that it might occur again. The good news (especially if you are one of the three million Americans who experienced multiple panic attacks) is that there are ways to control panic attack symptoms.

The physical symptoms are similar to a heart attack and are accompanied by psychological symptoms such as the feeling of having lost touch with reality. Even if you can experience strong symptoms, don’t let this put you down. The best way to control your panic attack symptoms is to start preventing them in the first place.

The top six ways to control your panic attack symptoms:

1) Antidepressant, which can help you to get rid of panic attacks. I’m not suggesting going for antidepressants as a standard cure; just consult your physician about taking antidepressants and the way can help you. If you are experiencing heavy panic attacks, a quick start cure of this type will let you reduce the impact of the symptoms and will enable you to a longer term strategy.

2) The cognitive-behaviour therapy helps you to control your panic attack symptoms. You can defeat the symptoms of a panic attack when they occur through visualization, breathing and relaxation techniques.

3) Facing directly the fears is probably the best approach. You can eradicate gradually the situations that cause panic by gradually confronting them. To do this the safe you, is necessary to resort to a professional therapist, as doing it the wrong way will expose you to the uncomfortable situation that could trigger the panic attack.

4) Let go your fear and shame of seeing your doctor and finally ask him for some advice. Don’t let your shame stop you. Ask for advice and follow it.

5) Ask advice to someone you know and got out anxiety.

6) Remember that there are treatments, even for your case. You are not different from other anxiety or panic attack sufferers. They’re going to find a solution and you too.

So even if you suffer from chronic panic attacks or you have a panic disorder, you can improve your quality of life just taking back a little control. Panic disorder is not permanent and you can restore some of this control. Pick one from the previous list you feel comfortable with, and act immediately. Ask some qualified help, follow the advice, and soon will you experience a sustained relief.

Does Therapy Work For Panic Attacks?
Although there is more and more proof surfacing that panic attacks are a chemical reaction of the brain, many experts are not convinced that it is only a physical problem. Most psychologists think that while a person who suffers from panic attacks might be experiencing a chemical imbalance, they are also likely having emotional issues as well. Therefore, medication alone might not be treating their panic, but only masking the problem. Therapy is one thing many doctors recommend in addition to medication. The patients that would rather not take medication also find it helpful. The trick to making therapy work for your panic attacks is to choose the right therapist. You should "interview" a few to see if they offer what you need. For instance, if you want to change certain behaviors you have (such as phobias or compulsive tendencies) you might want to see someone who specializes in behavioral therapy. If you want to figure out situations from your past, you might want a psychotherapist. No matter who you choose to see, you should feel comfortable with the therapist. You will only get back from therapy what you put into it. So, if you go to therapy and don’t open up with honesty, then you will likely not get any benefits from it. When you do go and open up, you will find that simple talking through things and rationalizing them with an unbiased party can be very healing. Therapy will help you learn to cope with your panic and perhaps find the route of it. When you are lucky enough to find the route of your panic, you may be able to eliminate that source or at least learn to deal with the source. This should result in less panic attacks for you overall. Jeanette Pollock is a freelance author and website owner of anxietydomain.com . Visit Jeanette's site to learn...
