The short and obvious answer: panic attacks are caused by high anxiety. But, what exactly is anxiety? Understanding how anxiety crops up will help you defeat panic attacks. One of the biggest myths surrounding anxiety is that it is harmful and can lead to a number of various life-threatening conditions. Definition of Anxiety Anxiety is defined as a state of apprehension or fear resulting from the anticipation of a real or imagined threat, event, or situation. Overcoming Panic Attacks
Panic attacks are usually progressive in nature if they are not treated properly. Many people who suffer from panic attacks go for months and years before getting the correct diagnosis. They suffer needlessly either because of a lack of education about panic attacks or due to embarrassment of having a problem they cannot seem to will themselves out of. The symptoms of a panic attack include but are not limited to: • Difficulty breathing. • Feeling as though you are not able to get enough air. • Racing heartbeat. • A sense of terror or dread. • Severe anxiety level; feeling like you are on the verge of losing your mind. • Dizziness, trembling, choking. • Chest pain. • Sweating,...

Cause of Panic Attack Symptoms – Two Pathways

Author:
Mark Tern

Anytime, Anywhere

A panic attack is one of the most intrusive problems you can have. If you a panic attack sufferer, you can have one in your car, at home, in public, anywhere.

Something Threatening Your Life

When you are facing a life threatening situation, you are experiencing an intense emotion, something between deep fear and panic.

Well, research has shown that this very same kind of fear is what you experience when you have a panic attack. It could be so similar that you could even feel as if you were dying.

These types of symptoms can last for anywhere from a few minute to a couple of hours.

This means that your mind is evaluating you are under attack and the so called “fight or flight” action is required.

Your Body’s Defense

Immediately your body takes into account your mind’s message, and will act accordingly: your heart rate will increase and you experience a chest tightening.

If nothing improves in a few seconds, then you could feel nauseated or dizzy and you could even faint.

Stressful Hereditary Conditions

Well, research has not yet understood the true nature of panic attacks. For sure there are two main sources:

1) Hereditary condition;

2) Stress or fear.

The quick check to understand your case is to answer a couple of simple questions:

1) Do you have any members in your family or parents or relatives that are panic attack sufferers?

2) Did your panic attack symptoms started or worsened heavily in a stressful situation or event?

In my opinion these two conditions define two completely different panic pathways: the first is about a physiological condition, the second is about a psychological one.

The Way To Go

In both cases professional assistance is the way to go.

If you suspect a hereditary condition, then looking for a physician is mandatory. He could help you to find an appropriate medication schedule and get some basic relief quickly.

If you suspect the cause is a stressful situation, then counselling is more appropriate. You could learn the probable cause of your panic attack and maybe develop a few strategies to handle oncoming attacks. If your symptoms are just caused by a “normal” stress, then learning to control what is causing you anxiety will be your way to improve.

Get more

You can find many remedies for you anxiety from conventional physicians and therapists. Simple approaches that can give you relief in both panic pathways are based on natural remedies. You can try a panic attack natural remedy and start having some simple benefits the easy way (give a look at my website – see the resource box).

Anxiety & Panic Attacks - Two Steps to Begin the Healing Process
Anxiety sufferers are usually at a loose end after trying methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Techniques, Hypnosis, Sessions with psychologists, Meditation, Herbal Alternatives and probably the most popular of them all is Medications such as anti-depressants and Benzodiazepine's. Now I was no different to any other sufferer, I was pulling my hair out in the hopes of one of these alternatives would kick in and free me of this dreadful nightmare that I lived, day in and day out for years. Unable to leave my house in fear something dreadful was going to happen to me. But after plenty of research I did eventually eliminate my anxiety and panic disorder. And it certainly wasn’t from taking medications, or hypnosis or CBT or any of the worlds most practiced techniques (which have always given a rather poor response in curing anxiety and panic attacks). Two Steps to Begin the Healing Process Step One... Acceptance Accepting that what you have is Anxiety and Panic Disorder. And yes, I know this can be an extremely hard thing to accept. You’re sure that it always must be something else, your heart is racing (you think that you must be having a heart attack). You’re finding it difficult to swallow (so now your thoughts sway to you must have throat cancer). You find it difficult to breathe (and in that moment you’re sure your going to pass out or die, or maybe you think you have lung cancer or emphysema). Yes, I know how these thoughts can take control of your mind. But in order to become well again, you must accept all these feelings are, are anxiety and panic attacks. Step Two… Trust I struggled with this issue a lot. And I certainly understand when you have lost all faith. After all, you’ve tried all these other techniques with little to no success. So you begin to...
